Toyhouse – Services for Tower Hamlets Families

Toyhouse – Services for Tower Hamlets Families

For 40 years Toyhouse has played an integral part in supporting the wellbeing of Tower Hamlets families. They believe in the importance of play in early years to foster attachment between parents and children. Their wide range of sessions helps to facilitate that experience in an inclusive and safe environment.

You can visit the Toyhouse Centre at St Paul’s Way and take part in free activities such as sensory sessions for babies and baby massage, healthy eating courses, stay and play sessions and parenting classes. Although they believe in the importance of early years, they are also there to engage older children and their parents with after school sessions.

Stay & Play

The Toyhouse Stay & Play sessions are a great place to meet people and discover new ideas to support your child’s early development with the help of the Toyhouse Staff. During these sessions, families have the opportunity to borrow toys from the Toy Library to extend the play into the home and throughout the week.

Physical Play

Toyhouse facilitates 4 sessions a week of physical play for under-fives together with their parent/carer; these lively fun sessions are run at St Hilda’s Community Centre and Mile End Play Pavillion.

Toy Sales

If you’re doing some Spring cleaning and wondering what to do with toys your children have outgrown, each half term, Toyhouse runs a previously used toy sale. They welcome donations in good condition so your children’s cast aways will find new children to appreciate them.

Sure STEPs Volunteers

Toyhouse has an ongoing programme called Sure STEPs to recruit local residents to become trained Peer Support Volunteers. They provide ongoing and nonjudgmental Peer Support to Tower Hamlets families from pregnancy through the first year with the baby.  If you’re interested in volunteering on this programme Toyhouse would love to hear from you.

Toyhouse aims to empower individuals, families, volunteers and employees to develop the skills and resilience to achieve their aspirations. They believe in early support for a better future and have played an integral role within our community for decades.
