Rudie’s Boxpark is a dinky little restaurant, taking over one of the shopping containers on the 1st floor of the mall. There’s just a handful of seats in the restaurant itself but plenty of space to swing a buggy or two in the shared covered and heated outdoor eating area right next to their front door.
Rudie’s Boxpark – What To Eat
The menu is a mini version of the dishes found at the original Rudie’s restaurant in Dalston, but all the favourites remain including their signature real jerk chicken, curry goat and Boss burger. Created to suit busy Shoreditch workers and residents this new Rudie’s also offers a selection of Jamaican lunch options such as the Jerk-It-Up box (signature real jerk chicken with sweet potato, rice ’n’ peas or chow chow slaw), Hellshire Beach (king prawns sautéed in pepper sauce, served with avocado salsa and fried bammy).
We sampled Rudie’s jerk chicken, which is jerked and grilled on site and this was served with some fresh and lovely red cabbage coleslaw. We also tried the curried goat, which had a fabulous dark green hue and plenty of punch to it. The curried goat was served with rice ‘n’ peas and some delicious sweet fried plantain.
Rudie’s also make their own jerk ketchup and homemade hot sauce which we were happily served up a side of each.
We skipped the drinks as it was lunchtime but we did eye up a great sounding Guinness rum punch on the menu ….
Rudie’s gets a big thumbs up from EEK – A great place to get your Caribbean fix daily.
