Creative Writing Fun with Night Zookeeper

Get Your Kids Writing for Fun! With 50% off Annual Subscriptions

Have your children discovered the magical world of Night Zookeeper? Their BAFTA-nominated website, www.nightzookeeper.com/parents is a wonderful way to inspire a love for creative writing from an early age. Encouraging children to become their own content creators rather than simply consumers.

Night Zookeeper is a creative writing platform for children aged 6 to 12. Founded in 2011 by English Tutors Joshua Davidson and Paul Hutson with the aim of making learning fun, engaging and magical. The program began its life as a school project so has been co-created by children. Perhaps this is why it has been such a success?  Having since helped over 500,000 children improve their writing, reading and creative thinking skills!

The online platform helps children to write creative stories by leading them through a process of inventing characters, drawing pictures and then directing and encouraging them to complete fun writing lessons. Simultaneously sneaking in some spelling, grammar and punctuation challenges.

All of this takes place in the magical world of the Night Zoo, where children can create and collect their own animal characters, battle monsters, and climb up a global leaderboard of children from around the world.

Your children will feel a sense of achievement from real world interaction as they create within the site’s rich world of colourful characters complemented by a series of adventure books from Oxford University Press, and an animated show on Sky TV.

The Night Zookeeper Platform

Night Zookeeper is designed to help children fall in love with reading and writing. All challenges are age-specific and in line with National Curriculum learning goals. Younger children play through shorter, challenges that are designed to get them ready for writing lessons.

Night Zookeeper’s team of tutors provide positive feedback on the writing that children produce.  Always encouraging, as they gently show young writers ways to improve their work.

Gamification makes the whole experience more fun as children unlock new options and exciting areas of the Night Zoo as they complete more challenges.

Children are always encouraged to produce their best drawings and writing, as their work could feature in Night Zookeeper storybooks, card games, or even end up in the animated TV series!

Every child that joins becomes part of a global community of creative and caring young people. Sharing their stories so that they can encourage each other.

Real tutors moderate all writing and comments. Thus ensuring a completely safe environment for children to share their work with children in over 40 countries.
