When the kids call for pizza, get down to Canary Wharf’s West India Quay for a Pizza pilgrim’s experience.
Housed in a historic Victorian red brick warehouse, this pizzeria has a huge 70-seater outdoor terrace on the waterfront as well as an inside ground floor restaurant and additional basement and bar.
The West India Quay site is decked out in the classic Pizza Pilgrims style, complete with their green and white checked tablecloths and Pizza Pilgrims trademark ‘Pizza Box Art’ covers the walls.
Pizza Pilgrims Pizzas
The Pizza Pilgrims have developed a loyal following for their proper Neapolitan pizzas – bases are made by hand and proved for 24-48 hours, then topped with Fior Di Latte cow’s milk mozzarella (flown in from Italy) for that perfect ‘stringiness’ and cooked at over 460C to ensure their traditionally high crusted Neapolitan bases.
Signatures on the menu include Portobello Mushroom & Truffle; Smoked Napoli and N’duja (spicy Calabrian sausage) pizza. In addition, deep fried artichoke hearts, calzone fritta, arancini and Italian mac’n’cheese, will be on offer.
Pizza Pilgrims Pizza Playground at West India Quay
A ‘pizza playground’ for kids big and small is also on offer at this East London outpost, including a super long fussball table which holds up to 22 players; an outdoor ‘Bocce Ball’ court (Italian for ‘bowls’); and a private space with comfy sofas, an enormous 65” screen TV, surround sound and the latest Nintendo gaming system, where pizza addicts can fuel their need to play Mario Kart and more.
