Sipping Room Review
The Sipping Room – The Look
Spread over two floors of The Grade II listed wharf warehouse, the interiors are industrial glam featuring dark timbers, flagstone flooring and steel beams, peppered with a carefully curated selection of seating including cowhide booths and chairs draped with sheep’s wool throws. The ground floor plays host to a focal natural wood-clad bar, complete with tall leather-topped bar stools and low-set coffee tables.
The Sipping Room– Food & Drink
We swerved the tempting sounding selection of cocktails and got straight into a lovely refreshing bottle of Pinot Grigio as recommended by our waiter.
Cocktails for those wanting to sip something sweet include Bees Need Knees (Botanist gin, Cointreau, lemon juice & honey syrup); London Spritz (Tanqueray gin, cucumber, elderflower, apple, mint & soda); and Garden Fizz (basil, blackberries, raspberries, lemon and agave).
The all-day menu is in brasserie-style made up of starters or small plates, flatbreads and sharing boards plus salads, burgers and classic-sounding main courses.
To start, the hubby and I shared a Scotch egg served with a tasty chorizo and smoked paprika mayonnaise together with chicken satay with peanut sauce and sesame.
For my main course, I chose a light yet perfectly filling crispy duck salad, packed with spring onions, cucumber and dressed in peanuts and hoisin. My better half went for the Wagyu Burger with blue cheese and tomato chutney. This was served in a tempting-looking glazed brioche bun. When I asked how it was he nodded in approval whilst making it disappear in pretty quick succession. Thumbs up!
For dessert we shared/fought over a Tippsy Affogato – vanilla ice cream with espresso, Kahlua & amaretto. Yum.
The Bothy has a separate kids menu and full brunch and breakfast options too.
With all the space on their outside terrace for kids to let off steam, it definitely gets the family thumbs up from THMs as the new kid in town.
