Review of The Little Prince – A breathtaking theatrical scene featuring an aerial performer suspended mid-air with flowing fabric, set against a cosmic backdrop of deep blue stars and a glowing planet. Dancers on the stage hold small illuminated orbs, enhancing the immersive and dreamlike atmosphere of this visually stunning production.

Our Honest Review of The Little Prince at the London Colisseum

Spectacular color, jaw-dropping acrobatics, delightful characters, mesmerising circus, and beautiful ballet. What more could you want? Apparently, more fighting. Our honest review of The Little Prince.

At least, that’s the verdict from my almost 10-year-old son who seems to be heading into his ennui phase. Blink and you’ll miss it, The Little Prince plays at London Coliseum until 16th March 2025.

A Dreamlike Journey

Following sold-out performances in Paris, Sydney, Dubai, and a dazzling season on Broadway, The Little Prince has landed in London for its UK premiere. Based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved masterpiece—one of the most translated books in the world—this grand-scale, immersive production is a theatrical experience unlike any other.

From the moment the lights dim, the audience is transported into a cosmic dreamscape where an aviator lost in the desert meets the enigmatic Little Prince, a child who has traveled from planet to planet in search of meaning (and a sheep). His journey unfolds through a breathtaking fusion of dance, music, projections, and stunning movement. With vibrant colors and whimsical characters, the show captures the poetic essence of the original story in a visually striking way.

A Show That Stays With You

Beyond its dazzling spectacle, The Little Prince carries a message that for me, lingered long after the curtain fell:

“If you tame me, we’ll need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world…”

During the scene with the fox and the prince, I kept thinking about our dog and how I didn’t really want him but now he has completely captured my heart. The story is about connection- what (and who) we choose to care for and how those relationships give our lives meaning. Whether we value business and power or love and friendship, The Little Prince reminds us that our life’s meaning is derived from what we devote our time and hearts to. And that, sometimes, the void created by distance is the only way to truly understand the absence of that devotion and the reciprocal connection it creates between two souls.

Who Will Love It?

There’s plenty to adore here and standing ovations were all around. The acrobatics are stunning, the visuals enchanting, and the storytelling deeply poetic. There are also lots of sweet, silly, and endearing moments that many children will love—though since the narration is in French with subtitles, younger audiences should be comfortable reading to fully engage with the story.

As for me? I was completely spellbound. My son? Let’s just say that next time, I might leave him at home and indulge my inner child instead. To be fair, it was Wednesday night after school and football training, probably still recovering from his sleep over at the weekend – perhaps if it were the weekend, he would’ve gotten over his hump.
