ZooNation is on a mission to set the stage for the next generation of theatregoers and theatremakers. Founded in 2002 by the ultra-talented East London resident, Kate Prince MBE, the company is best known for hip hop–inspired, full-length narrative dance productions that pack out theatres nationwide.
Audiences of all ages will love this clever blend of storytelling, music and movement that brings Dickens bang up to date. Sadler’s Wells East is serving a Christmas crowd-pleaser for all ages, perfectly rizful for even the hardest-to-please tweens and teens.
Ebony Scrooge
Meet Ebony: the formidable mastermind of a global fashion empire and everyone’s nightmare boss. She’s cancelled Christmas in favour of her landmark fashion show… that is, until three unexpected visitors crash the party.
Surrounded by style, wealth and success, Ebony is about to rediscover her Caribbean roots…
and maybe the true meaning of happiness.
This bright and bold reimagining of A Christmas Carol is choreographed by East London-born and raised Dannielle ‘Rhimes’ Lecointe (Associate Artistic Director, ZooNation: The Kate Prince Company), with original music from Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante (Boy Blue, The Effect).
Blending hip hop, comedy and physical theatre, this is not your average Christmas story.
High Octane Glam and a Powerhouse of Fun
The creative team bringing Ebony’s world to life includes Joanna Scotcher (set design), Charlie Morgan Jones (lighting), and Sarah Victoria (sound). Costume design is by Natalie Pryce, fresh from designing for Sadler’s Wells co-production Pete Townshend’s Quadrophenia: A Mod Ballet. Giulia Gallon joins as costume supervisor, with Le Fil (RuPaul’s Drag Race UK) as associate costume designer and stylist.
