Stratford East Panto 2023: Jack & The Beanstalk

Fee Fi Fo Fum… I smell some classic festive English fun! Bundle them up for an evening of silly interactive traditional pantomime at Stratford East this holiday season. We have a family ticket for Jack and the Beanstalk to give away – oh yes we do!

For over a century, the Stratford East has been entertaining families at Christmas Time. This season’s rendition of “Jack and the Beanstalk” promises to be a golden goose of a festive treat for all ages. With clever wit, it weaves in local, cultural, and political references that will captivate adults, while delivering interactive pantomime fun that kids will adore.

Welcome to the whimsical world of Splatford, where Jack resides with his trusty cow, Winnie The Moo, and his mother, Milky Linda. This enchanted town is home to a magical marsh brimming with healing mud, which Jack and his pals labour to mine. However, there’s a colossal predicament: the towering Giant Belch, who rules over Splatford from the sky, stealing the precious mud, charging exorbitant rents, and polluting the air with his thunderous burps and noxious emissions.

But fear not, an unconventional shepherd, a handful of mystical beans, and an unexpected beanstalk lead Jack on a transformative journey. Can he ascend to the summit and conquer Flesh Creep, Belch’s malevolent henchwoman, who has a fierce vendetta against him? Can he prevail over Belch and become the unlikely hero of Splatford? And most importantly, can he make Milky Linda proud?

Famous for tearing up the rulebook, Stratford East pantos are full of original music and outrageous characters telling classic stories with a special Stratford East twist.

Accomplished writer Anna Jordan (she/her), known for her work on “Succession” and “Killing Eve,” has teamed up with Stratford East pantomime veteran Robert Hyman (he/him) to create a musical adaptation of this timeless fairy tale. Together with a very talented cast, there is no doubt this production will be jam-packed with festive fun for you and your family, oh no there isn’t!
